Interviews with Architects Rolf Kielman and Lee Grutchfield

If you have ever dreamed of building your own home, you have probably perused the beautifully designed homes on our website under the Home Studio or Residential section. The architects of these homes are principles Rolf Kielman, AIA and Lee Grutchfield, AIA. Their designs have been showcased in numerous design magazines, and are noted for capturing a sense of place that is unique to both a specific site and client.

Rolf and Lee have been sharing their experience and  creativity with the public through their Blog series Making Good Homes. Their series includes astute guidance for people contemplating a custom home in Vermont, New York and other parts of the United States.

Filmmaker Dave Raizman sat down with both of them recently to learn more about their approach to home design and to talk about what inspires their architecture.
