These recently announced board positions continue the firm’s tradition of community engagement and professional development.

DAVID EPSTEIN NAMED CHAIR OF VBSR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

David Epstein, AIA, LEED AP has assumed the role of Board Chair of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility.

VBSR is a statewide, nonprofit business association with a mission to leverage the power of business for positive social and environmental impact. The organization was founded in 1990 to promote the belief that businesses have as much responsibility to workers, communities, and the environment as they do to be financially successful.

David is a longtime VBSR Board member and previously served as the Board Vice Chair. During his time on the Board, the organization has continued to advance its mission through education, public policy, and professional networking.

David is the Managing Principal at TXC and co-leads our Education and Workplace studios. He has designed school facilities and master plans that embrace the education of the whole child, working with schools in 14 countries across 4 continents. David is the author of the Whole Child Framework, a conceptual framework that realigns the approach to school design along with the elements of wellness, learning, and engagement.

David holds a B.Arch from Virginia Polytechnic & State University. He has served on the Vermont Foodbank Board of Trustees and as a Board Member and Past President of AIA Vermont.

MATTHEW BUSHEY NAMED 2022 PRESIDENT OF AIA VERMONT

Matt Bushey, AIA, LEED AP, has been named 2022 President of AIA Vermont. AIA Vermont is the state chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the nation’s leading professional organization for architects and design professionals.

The work of the organization is driven by AIAVT’s three core values: member engagement, viewed through the lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion; climate action, with a focus on state policy, programming, and education; and public outreach, to promote architecture and strengthen connections with communities throughout Vermont.

Matt is an Associate Principal of TXC and leads the workplace interiors design group. In his 15 years with us, he has focused on the intersection of architecture and interior design, managing multiple workplace, hospitality, and higher education projects. His clients include Seventh Generation, Vermont Sportscar, Lake Champlain Chocolates, and various financial, manufacturing, and entrepreneurial companies throughout northern New York and New England.

Matt also leads our team in pursuing the goals of the AIA 2030 Commitment. As a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, the firm has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for all projects by the year 2030.

Matt holds a B.Arch from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Burlington resident and currently serves as the Chair of the Burlington Design Advisory Board.

CAM FEATHERSTONHAUGH TO SERVE AS 2022-2024 CHAIR OF
CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS INSTITUTE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Cam Featherstonhaugh, AIA, CSI, CDT is stepping into the role of Chair of the National Board of Directors for the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). The position of Board Chair is a two-year term that will start in the summer of 2022.

Cam currently serves as Chair-elect of CSI, a position he has held since 2020. He previously served as the Institute Director from the Northeast Region from 2016 to 2020 and has served on the National, Regional, or Vermont Boards continuously since 2008.

CSI is a national association of more than 8,000 construction industry professionals, including architects, engineers, spec writers, contractors, and product manufacturers. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of construction documents and communication between project team members. The work of CSI is focused on standards and publications, construction industry professional certifications, and continuing education for construction professionals.

Cam is an Associate of TXC and a Project Leader in our Education Studio. He is well versed in high-performance and net-zero energy building design. Cam is currently the Project Manager for the Winooski School District Capital Project, a renovation and expansion project serving one of the fastest growing student populations in Vermont.

Cam holds a B.Arch from Norwich University. He previously served on the AIA Vermont Board of Directors and was the founding director of the AIAVT Emerging Professionals Network.
