Roland Batten Memorial Lecture Series Returns with “The Ultramodern Edifice”

We are pleased to share news of this year’s Roland Batten Memorial Lecture, featuring Devin Colman, Director of the UVM Historic Preservation Program and former Vermont State Architectural Historian.

Colman will share 20 years of research into modernist architecture in Burlington, in a talk titled “The Ultramodern Edifice: Modernist Architecture of Burlington, Vermont”

It’s a complex story of 20th-century growth and development and a willingness to embrace modern building forms, materials, and concepts. Colman’s talk will highlight examples of modernist architecture in Burlington from the 1930s to the 1970s and share the stories of the architects and clients behind them.

This event is free and open to the public, at Contois Auditorium at Burlington City Hall on April 10th at 6 PM.
