Richard Deane Appointed Chair of the BBA
Please join us in congratulating Richard Deane on becoming the Chair of the Burlington Business Association (BBA) Board of Directors. Pictured above is Richard at the BBA’s memorable 37th Annual Dinner at the Hilton Burlington last month where he took over the role from outgoing Chair Tom Bressard, pictured on the left. Richard will be working closely with Executive Director Kelly Devine, in the photo on the left.
Since its initial founding as the Downtown Burlington Development Association (DBDA) more than 35 years ago, the BBA has followed a clear and purposeful mission to promote the health and vitality of Burlington’s business community and secure the city’s standing as the cultural, social, political, economic, and educational center of northwestern Vermont. Richard’s work with the BBA continues a long-standing connection that began when Bill Truex, a founding member of the DBDA, helped form and lead the initiative that transformed downtown’s Church Street into a pedestrian friendly retail and dining marketplace that attracts residents and visitors to look, stroll, shop, and dine throughout the year.
As Burlington anticipates addressing both current challenges and unique opportunities in the years immediately ahead, Richard looks forward to the opportunity to bring enthusiasm, experience and skill to helping guide the BBA in its critical advocacy work for the renewal and vitality of Burlington’s downtown, waterfront and South End.
Richard co-leads TruexCullins’ Workplace and Education Studios. His projects include the CCTA Downtown Transit Center, King Arthur Flour Café, Bakery, Store & School, Heritage Flight Aviation, Dartmouth College’s Buchanan Hall and Kappa Delta Sorority and The University of Vermont’s Davis Student Center.
