Celebrate Vermont Design Week, April 4 – 8, 2016
Our graphic design friends at AIGA Vermont have organized another great week of exhibits, workshops, awards, and parties for the second annual Vermont Design Week, being held THIS WEEK around town.
This year, AIAVT EPN (American Institute of Architects VT Emerging Professionals Network) is teaming up with AIGA VT to host Portfolio Night, Thursday April 7 from 6 to 8pm on the 2nd floor of the BCA Center on Church Street. Visual Artists and Designers are invited to partake in a panel discussion with local professionals and educators on what they look for in a portfolio for school and job applications, have an opportunity for one-on-one critique, and socialize with members of the creative community. This event is free and open to the public, whether you are looking for feedback on your current portfolio or inspiration to start one.
There is no age restriction but the event is geared toward college students and young professionals. Panelists and guest critics include professionals from Champlain College, Norwich University, the VT College of Fine Art, and TruexCullins. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.
Other events this week include the second annual Vermont Design Award Show on Monday at the Fleming Museum (with a Design Fellow Award being presented to Lyn Severance by Ben & Jerry’s cofounder Ben Cohen), and Formulate // Articulate, an opening reception featuring the work of twentieth-century modernist and color theorist Josef Albers, Wednesday at 6pm at the BCA Center.
